Filing Taxes

Hi All,

Does anyone know whether it's possible to access English version of Tax documents to file taxes online?  Or, if the government website provides help.  Or, if anyone can

provide any information of how to fill in the French Tax Docs for a leaseback situation which must all be pretty much the same.  I've been paying

an online English/French service to do this since I bought my leaseback in '07 but can't afford to pay several hundred euro for a task that must be quite simple.  I'd appreciate

any advice provided.

Thank you.

This information is not available anywhere...yet! But we have been developing an automatic online tax return in partnership with a french accountancy company.

It would be possible to do it yourself but from this year it is a legal requirement to send your tax return to the french tax office via electronic data i.e. EDI or XML but not email. So you would still have to find a company to do this.

So we are combining everything (including automatic transmission to the french tax office) in an easy to use online service. Some data will be pulled from your account (you may have noticed that if you select the "my account" option your residence now has address details) and any data which you enter for a particular tax year will automatically populate the next tax year's return.

We are well aware of how much french accountants charge for this service (on average 250-300 EUR). We will be offering a much simpler, clearer service, in your language for 50 EUR.

I would estimate that it will be ready within 1 month i.e. hopefully by the end of June, but almost definitely it should be complete for this year's tax return.

All users will be receiving an email about this.

I pay an accountant EUR412.00 to file my return. I am self employed and complete my Irish tax return myself.

If the average cost for a leaseback tax filing is EUR250 to EUR350, that already means that I can save money. If this website can providea D.I.Y. service for EUR50, that would be fantastic.

Hi Seamus

Did you get your system for filing tax returns online yet as I have not paid my french taxes this year as yet

Lorna

I am really sorry. Our software is 90% developed but we had a french accountant partner who was supposed to help complete the development and visibly support the application on the website. But he changed his mind at the 11th hour. It is a difficult step for a french accountant. They choose to stop making 300-400 EUR for each return to maybe 20 EUR. But we are still looking for a partner. But unfortunately the tool will not be completed for this year's return.

Hi Seamus

I'm not sure to understand....

Will it be 20€ or 50€ that we will have to pay to use your taxes services on line?

Would you help us if we have any queries or problems filling the returns?

Maybe it could just be free as we will do it ourself ?? What do you think ?

Thank you

We do not yet know what we will charge. It depends on what it costs to send the tax return by EDI to the tax office. And yes, you can do the tax return yourself but you still have to send it to the tax office by EDI - you are no longer allowed to post it. You will be lucky if you can finf a service provider who will do this for less than 100 EUR. But when we are processing a large number of tax returns we will be able to significantly reduce the price.

I forgot to add. Yes we will help you to do the return the 1st time you ues it. But it is so well designed (in my opinion) that I think most people will need no help!

Hi Seamus,

I would be most interested to receive details of a cheaper way of doing my French Taxes online next year when you have them.

many thanks,

Best wishes
